The King's Horses

    
     The King's Horses
(working title) is a currently-in-progress young adult historical novel. Set in southern England and Wales, it is based on actual decrees made by Henry VIII regarding the breeding of horses.

     Whether he is a stallion or a gelding, Pippin will be a fine horse and a phenomenal jumper. Why does it matter so much to Gillian Goodway whether or not her colt is gelded? And why would the daughter of a knight defy Tudor conventions and as Giles Goodway, run away to Wales with her horse?

     Here are the first three of the fourteen chapters thus far drafted:
